Basics

Can I install the Fridge-Fix myself?
Absolutely. Please reference the installation instructions included with your unit for some pointers on where to run power from. The most common source of power in Dometic refrigerators is the hot wire from the door switch. The next most common place to find power is from the back of the refrigerator. If you prefer, the Fridge-Fix can be installed by just about any RV dealer for a small fee. Generally, it should take a professional less than 15 minutes to install the Fridge-Fix.
Can I run power from the back of the fridge?
Absolutely! Please see our Installation Page for instruction on how to do this. Any 12 Volt power source is acceptable.
Do the fans run all the time?
Yes, the Fridge-Fix should be on any time your refrigerator is on. If you are dry camping, you can tun it off as needed if you are concerned about draining your battery, but if you are using shore power, we recommend leaving the Fridge-Fix on at all times.

How do I get 12 volt power to the Fridge-Fix?
We suggest two methods of providing power to the Fridge-Fix:
  1. The interior light in the refrigerator. (Dometic single door units)
  2. From the rear of the refrigerator, where the 12 volt power is hooked to the refrigerator. (for refrigerators with lights that are unacceptable power sources)
The instructions for how to source this power can be found on the installation page of our website. If you do not feel comfortable working with 12 volt electricity, we suggest you have the Fridge-Fix installed by a dealer. It should take them less than 15 minutes to do so.
How does the Fridge-Fix attach to my fridge?
The Fridge-Fix fix is held in place by industrial strength Velcro pads. Once installed, the unit can be removed for cleaning etc.
How much power does the Fridge-Fix use?
The dual fan Fridge-Fix units draws .5 amps (1/2 of an amp). The three fan Fridge-Fix units draw .75 (3/4 of an amp) For comparison, just one 1157 light bulb (common RV interior lighting source) draws 2.1 amps.
I saw a fan at camping world that runs on D-cell batteries for$20.00, its cheaper and does the same thing
(Not really a question but we love to comment on this).
  • The D-cell battery powered fan device sold by various RV retailers does nothing even close to what the Fridge-Fix can do. There is literally no comparison. Most of our customers have previously owned one of these devices before buying a Fridge-Fix. Here are some things to think about if you are undecided.
  • IT WILL NOT GET RID OF COOLING FIN ICE- Thebattery operated fans on the market will not get rid of any of the ice that accumulates on the cooling fins.
  •  D-CELL BATTERIES ARE VERY EXPENSIVE -They cost close to $10 every time replacement is needed. If you multiply this over the lifetime of owning your RV, the cost savings are on the side of the Fridge-Fix.
  • BATTERY OPERATED DEVICES FUNCTION POORLY IN THE COLD-  When a battery gets cold (in the refrigerator), the power output decreases. This means that the small fan turns slower, and does less to solve the air flow problem.
  • IT TAKES UP SHELF SPACE- There is very little space in an RV refrigerator as it is, but having to donate shelf space to a fan unit it unnecessary.
  • YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO DEFROST YOUR REFRIGERATOR- Regardless of what these devices promise, you will still have to defrost your refrigerator. With the Fridge-Fix installed, you will never have to defrost again.
We dry camp a lot, can I turn off the LED’s?
The LED’s are integral to the fans. They cannot be turned off separately. You can however turn the Fridge-Fix off when dry camping if power consumption is a concern.
Why does my Fridge-Fix turn off every time I close my refrigerator door?
This could only occur if you used the refrigerator’s interior light for the power source. You may have attached the Fridge-Fix power wire to the wrong wire in the light. The two wires leading to the white clip should be constant hot (12volt). Make sure your power wires are attached to these wires. If you are still having this problem, we suggest that you switch your power source to the rear of the refrigerator. Follow the instructions located on our Installation Page.
Will the Fridge-Fix damage my refrigerator?
ABSOLUTELY NOT. The Fridge-Fix uses Velcro to attach to the top of your refrigerator, and can easily be removed if needed. The Fridge-Fix draws very little electrical power, and we have NEVER heard of one instance of an RV refrigerator being harmed by the device. Because the Fridge-Fix improves the performance of your refrigerator, it will actually prolong its life. You will use less electricity and less propane because your refrigerator is not running 100% of the time to try to maintain cool temps.
Will the Fridge-Fix void my refrigerator warranty?
Your warranty will not be voided by the addition of a Fridge-Fix. Your warranty is more likely to be voided by not defrosting at appropriate (read: inconvenient) intervals. If you are concerned about the warranty coverage, please contact your fridge’s manufacturer and speak with them regarding this topic. For more information on consumer warranties, please refer to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act
